W. A. Ellis's Building Surveying & Refurbishment Department continues to go from strength to strength. As well as facilitating the cyclical maintenance of London’s finest residential buildings for many of the largest and most demanding property institutions, we have recently been responsible for several notable successful refurbishment projects.

We have transformed two charming two storey period Knightsbridge mews houses into fantastic three storey family friendly houses with cutting edge design after expanding these properties into the basement. The recent London phenomenon of creating basement living space provides the ideal solution to allow property owners to gain usable space and add value to their property.

We have also been working closely with our W. A. Ellis Lettings experts, taking properties which are earning an average rental for properties in an average condition and fully overhauling them into prime properties commanding the rentals that they deserve for their prime location. In some cases, this has increased our clients' rental value by over 40%, allowing the works to be paid for by rental income within a year and a half and encouraging long term tenants to the property.

For example, we refurbished a house in Sumner Place which was let previously at £3,300 per week and during the 10 week contract period, we secured a tenant at £4,500 per week, paying for a year’s rent up front before the work was fully completed!

Another recent example is a flat in Sloane Court West which was let for £675 per week and after the 11 week contract period, our Lettings department secured a rent of £950 per week.
