Nestled in the village of Shackleford, Godalming, only an hour away from central London, Heathrow and Gatwick Airports is Aldro, a day and boarding prep school for boys aged 7-13 where boys enjoy an outstanding all-round education. The school is set in a wonderful, unspoilt rural location that is, in many ways, a haven for children. The boys have the freedom and space to keep hold of their precious childhood and, combined with high academic standards, are meticulously prepared for the next stage of their lives.
Exceptionally popular with parents moving out of London, as well as local families, we pride ourselves on creating a family atmosphere where children feel happy and safe and our boarding house provides a caring environment for our part-time, weekly and full time boarders, an option which is becoming increasingly popular with London families.
Academic life has to be at the core of a successful school and Aldro has an outstanding record of success over the past ten years with sixty scholarships won to senior schools over the last four and this year the boys have won a staggering 17 scholarships to top public schools. Boys develop the ability to take initiative with their work – whether boarders or dayboys they complete their prep at school and this is an invaluable study skill for the future.
Every day sees a large range of activities included in the normal timetable. Ask the boys what they really like doing and some would say shooting, others chess, art, cubs and scouts, fly-fishing, model railways....the list could go on.
